Our Story

Honouring Craig’s legacy through awareness, support, and research

June 2006

Early Symptoms and Uncertainty

Craig Schurman Condon began experiencing concerning symptoms, including acid reflux, white stool, dark urine, and yellowing of the skin.

After visiting his physician, Hepatitis A was suspected, but tests came back negative.

With no clear explanation, Craig’s pancreatic cancer journey quietly began.

July 2006

A Pancreatic Cancer Diagnosis

Craig was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Like many people with this disease, the diagnosis came late and progressed rapidly, leaving little time for intervention or clarity.

September 2006

A Life Lost Too Soon

Just eight weeks after diagnosis, Craig passed away at the age of 63. His sudden loss highlighted the urgent need for greater awareness, earlier detection, and better support for those affected by pancreatic cancer.

2007

Craig’s Cause Pancreatic Cancer Society Is Founded

Craig’s Cause Pancreatic Cancer Society was established as a grassroots nonprofit organization in Craig’s memory. Its initial focus was on raising awareness of pancreatic cancer and supporting research to improve outcomes for future patients.

2012

Becoming a National Charity

Craig’s Cause Pancreatic Cancer Society was officially rebranded and received its national charitable business number. This milestone marked the organization’s growth and expanding impact across Canada.

Today

A National Voice for Support and Advocacy

Since its inception, Craig’s Cause Pancreatic Cancer Society has grown into a nationally recognized charity known for its awareness campaigns, education and support programs, and commitment to a diversified research portfolio.

Through collaboration with international, national, and provincial partners, healthcare organizations, and research institutions, the organization has helped raise over $2 million in research funding.

Craig’s Cause is proud to maintain its commitment that 100% of charitable donations go directly to awareness, education, patient support, and research programs.
