On July 31st, 2013, 25+ cyclists will leave Halifax, Nova Scotia and embark on an amazing adventure, touring the Maritime Provinces; Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. These provinces are known for their rugged coastlines and distinct Maritime Culture.
The 2013 Maritime Bike Tour will leave Halifax, Nova Scotia Wednesday, July 31st, 2013 and return to Halifax, Nova Scotia on Monday, August 5th, 2013 with cyclists participating in the Natal Day Parade.
Each cyclist will be part of a team and each cyclist will be responsible for completing approximately 100 km’s per day. Each team will cycle together. Teams will leave from specific locations, along the daily route, which is mapped out prior to departure.
Along with the daily touring, cyclists will be present at one Pancreatic Cancer Information Session a day. Speakers will include Craig’s Cause Pancreatic Cancer representatives and medical specialists. For many of our cyclists, this is often the “heart” of the tour. Cyclists not only listen to and experience stories that will inspire and humble them; they often connect to individuals in attendance which leaves a lasting impression. Prior to the departure of the Maritime Bike Tour local media sources are invited to attend the information sessions. This provides the Maritime Bike Tour with the opportunity to create Pancreatic Cancer awareness throughout the Maritimes.
Each cyclist will receive; jerseys (2), accommodations, meal allowances and support vehicles. Prior to leaving, monthly meetings will be available to registered cyclists, to discuss fundraising strategies. Cyclists will be offered weekly training rides and conditioning opportunities. These opportunities are also a great opportunity to meet other likeminded cyclists, before leaving on the tour.
There is refundable registration fee of $200.00. This registration fee is returned upon the completed of the fundraising minimum. TO REGISTER TO CLICK HERE!
Each cyclist will be responsible to fundraise $2,500.00 prior to the start of the tour. 100% of the funds raised by cyclists will be donated to the Pancreatic Cancer Research.
