Bike Tour Event

On September 25, 2010 Craig's Cause will host our fourth annual bike tour, around Porters Lake. The location of the bike tour will be at Porters Lake Provincial Park in Porters Lake, Nova Scotia.

The tour will have four different routes, of varying lengths, to accommodate various cycling fitness levels, including a route for families with younger children who would like to participate.

This year we are encouraging cyclists, of all ages and abilities, to create a team in honor of, or in memory of a loved one! The team with the most pledges will receive a plaque, with their team name that honors their hard work!

Registration for all participants starts at 8:30 am at the Porters Lake Provincial Park. Please follow the links below for addtional information on the above event.

Registration Information

Registration for all participants starts at 8:30 am at the Porters Lake Provincial Park. Participants are encouraged to come early to register and to enjoy Tim Horton's treats. Cycle Smith will also be in attendance to assist with any mechanical tune ups or concerns.

Individuals are encouraged to PRE-REGISTER before September 16th, 2009, using the following link!

    Pre - Registrations Fees

  • $20.00 - Individual Cyclists 12 years of age and over.
  • $5.00- For children under the age of 12.
  • $40.00- For Families Participating in the event.
  • $20.00- Per team member! Create a team and ride in honor of, or in memory of a loved one. Teams will be recognized, the day of the bike tour ! The team with the most pledges will receive plaque in honor of their hard work!

This will cover the registration costs, jell bracelet, bike tour support, food and live entertainment and a certificate of participation.

Additionally, if you fundraise the amount of registration, the registration fee is waived.

    Registration on the Day of Event

Participants Living out of Province

If you live outside of the province but are unable to attend, you can still participate!

  • Complete on-line registration form.
  • Certificate of participation and pledge sheets will be e-mailed to you or mailed to you.
  • Select the distance you will cycle (Map out this distance in the area you live).
  • Find a friend to cycle with!
  • Mail in the total pledge amount collected, using a cheque written out to;

Craig's Cause Bike Tour Route Descriptions

All routes will be lead by Halifax Regional Police Department cyclists or horses. Routes will be monitored by two RCMP police cars. A support vehicle, supplied by Cyclesmith, will be available to cyclists for minor repairs.

Rest stations will be available to all cyclists along the bike tours on the roads and run by the Lawrencetown Beach Volunteer Fire and Emergency Services.

Route A- Tour of the Eastern Shore
  • Distance-100km
  • Time - Departs at 10:00am. Estimated time of return, 3:00pm. (Approximately 4-5 hours for an average cyclist ability).
  • This route will be lead out of the Park by one Halifax Regional Police Cyclist.
Route B- Around TWO Lakes
  • Distance- 55 km's
  • Time- Departs at 10:00 a.m. Arrival back at 1:00 p.m. (approximately 3 hours for an average ability cyclist)
  • This route will be lead out of the Park by two Halifax Regional Police Cyclists.
Route C- Around the Lake -
  • Distance- 38 km's
  • Time- Departs after Route A Participants have all left the park. Arrival back at 12:00p.m (approximately 2 hours for an average ability cyclist)
  • This route will be lead out of the Park by two Halifax Regional Police Cyclists.
Route D- Half Around the Lake-
  • Distance- 24 km's
  • Time - Departs after the Route B Participants have all left the park. Arrival back at 11:00 a.m. (approximately 1 hour for an average ability cyclist)
  • This route will be lead out of the Park by two Halifax Regional Police Cyclists.
Route E- Social Park Ride-
  • Distance- 3-4 km's
  • Time - This is a social ride where where participants will circle throughout the park on a leisurely bike tour. Participants will return for the 12:30 pm entertainment and food.
  • This route will be lead by two Halifax Regional Police Horses.
